Confidence Building In Training Young Horses

This gal has been doing some of the natural horsemanship ground work exercises with her Icelandic Horse gelding who has been nicely trained as a young colt; not overly handled, not handled to make him into a "puppy dog", but knowledgeably handled while young.

He is super smart, very cooperative and willing to interact with people and do what is requested. His training is going very smoothly and because of who he is and his younger-days handling, it's progressing with little need for review. He catches on pretty fast!

His owner is confidant enough with him, to ask him to stand at the mounting block while she gets on. Then take a few steps with him.

Playing the Friendly Game first.

Practicing some ground driving.

Stands nicely.

Lateral flexion.

Good boy!
