Lice Concerns Regarding Imported Icelandic Horses

Important announcement to breeders, sellers, importers, and exporters

The US Government export authorities are now requiring that all horses exported from Iceland into the US have a certificate asserting that the horse does not have lice. This certificate is to be issued at the port of export. The veterinarian in Iceland who checks the horses to see if they meet the requirement, must ban export of any horse if lice or signs thereof are on a horse.

Sellers, exporters, importers, and buyers must make themselves informed and take the necessary precautions in this regard.
